Have you had a job forever and are you tired of the daily grind? Do you feel like you are getting absolutely nowhere? Are you interacting with the same people day after day? Are you ready for a change? Are you worried that you might not have what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur?

Let’s discuss some of the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs:

Are you ready to be your own boss? Do you have the self discipline to stick with your plan? Can you stay on track? Being your own boss is great. However, you must develop a plan for your business and then be disciplined enough to follow through on that plan. In the beginning, it takes time to learn the new business and new skills you may need to be successful. You must be willing to commit to that plan. Expect some failures to come along with that learning curve and do not quit.

Do you strongly dislike others telling you what to do? Entrepreneurs are self starters that do not need others to motivate them. An independent spirit is essential to be a successful entrepreneur. You must like to call the shots and then follow through with those decisions.

Are you motivated by making money and acquiring wealth? If you have been working in a job and not acquired the wealth you have desired, entrepreneurship offers that opportunity to you. You can also start working as entrepreneur part time and then graduate into full time as you accumulate more wealth. Not only is the money better, but it also allows you to have more time to do what you like to do.

Have you always been a risk taker? Entrepreneurs tend to be willing to take risks. They also consider failure as part of the learning curve. It takes practice to be great at something and entrepreneurs are willing to practice till they get it right. Be determined and know that you will be successful.

Are you the type of person that enjoys being in control? Do you relish the thought of “the buck stops here”? If you are the one calling the shots then it is you that succeeds or fails. Be willing to take on that responsibility.

Will you get the job done no matter what it takes? Being an entrepreneur means being extremely self motivated. There will be many distractions that will need to be overcome. There will be naysayers discouraging you. Listen to your heart and surround yourself with positive, successful people.

Are you from a family of entrepreneurs? Did you run a lemonade stand or have your own paper route? Have you always been a budding entrepreneur? Take advantage of those characteristics now. It is never too late or too early to start. Make a plan and rely on your instincts.

Are you one of those people that always get the job done? Entrepreneurs are highly self motivated with lots of energy to get things done. They do it till they get it right.

Do you enjoy making decisions? Do you make decisions quickly and change slowly? Do you feel that you are innovative and creative? Do you like to set things in motion? Becoming an entrepreneur means making the decisions, acting on them and then delivering results. Deciding what to do and then getting those things done is entirely up to you. You will need to do things a little differently from the rest of the crowd to set yourself apart from everyone else. Think out of the box.

Are you a big picture person or a little picture person? Entrepreneurs tend to be able to look at the big picture and figure out how one thing relates to another. Being able to see and understand the big picture is a very helpful skill.

How have you answered these questions? Did you answer them in a way that makes you feel confident that you have what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur? If so, choose a product, make a plan and go for it!
